Detailed Itinerary
Day 1 : HO CHI MINH CITY – CHAU DOC
Departure in the morning to Chau Doc, a town right at the Cambodian border. We cross the My Thuan Bridge, a famous cable-stayed bridge over the Mekong River. Arrival in Chau Doc.
Lunch. Check in at the hotel. The afternoon is spent visiting the village of the Cham ethnicity. Discover the life of local inhabitants and the typical mosques of this ethnic group. You have the opportunity to discover crafts made by the Cham, for example brocade weaving for scarves, coats and bags.
In the afternoon we visit the temple of the goddess Chua Xu, the patron of the country. On the opposite there is the Tay An Pagoda, the most famous pagoda in southwestern Vietnam. The Hindu-Muslim architecture mix that makes the peculiarity of this pagoda is surprising. The mausoleum of Thoai Ngoc Hau, valiant knight of the Nguyen Dynasty (1761 - 1829) who devoted his life to defend the province against the enemies, is located right next to the pagoda. Dinner. Free time. Overnight at the hotel.
DAY 2 : CHAU DOC – CAN THO
Departure to the Tra Su cajuput forest, where you can find many endangered plants and animal species which still exist here in Vietnam. Boat ride through the park to discover the ecosystem of the An Giang province.
Lunch. We continue the journey to Can Tho.
We visit the ancient house in Binh Thuy, also known as the orchid house, where the movie "The Lover" (1990) was filmed, a novel by Marguerite Duras. Dinner. Overnight at the hotel.
DAY 3 : CAN THO – CAI BE
Discover the Cai Rang floating market early in the morning. This is a typical market of the South, and also the largest market in the Mekong Delta. You will experience getting around in a boat filled with heaps of fruits and vegetables. Back in port, we continue to the Cai Be. Departure to Cai Be.
Lunch. Check in at the Mekong Riverside Boutique Resort and Spa. Free time to rest and enjoy the services offered by the resort. Overnight at the resort.
DAY 4 : CAI BE – HO CHI MINH CITY
We will visit traditional craft producing villages where rice cake and soy sauce is manufactured. Possibility to ride by bike to visit a coconut candy-making workshop and enjoy the fresh air in the countryside.
Lunch. Sampan ride to discover the traditional houses of the South, made of wood and palm leaves. We collect tropical fruits in the gardens of local residents. Return to the port by boat for the departure to Ho Chi Minh City.
